Matilda McQuaid — “Why Design Now?”

Design thinking is an essential tool for solving some of today’s most urgent problems. Creative thinkers, makers and problem solvers are drawn to this crucial field of discovery; and business leaders, policy makers, consumers and citizens are increasingly embracing design values. McQuaid’s talk will focus on these issues in the context of recent and innovative design solutions presented in the fourth National Design Triennial exhibition at the Cooper-Hewitt. The exhibition presents an international selection of 134 projects that promote environmental stewardship, social equity, accessibility and creative capital.Matilda McQuaid is Deputy Curatorial Director and Head of Textiles at the Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum.
