Alumna Patricia Kuhn (BFA 2000) Analyzes J. W. Marriott and his Motor Hotel Legacy
Alumna Patricia Kuhn (BFA 2000) just published a chapter “J. W. Marriott and the Development of the Motor Hotel,” in Housing Washington: Two Centuries of Residential Development and Planning in the National Capital Area, ed. Richard Longstreth (Chicago: The Center for American Places at Columbia College Chicago, 2010). This essay addressed the specific hotel used by the Vernacular Architecture Forum in their recent conference, May 19-22, 2010, and was part of a 394-page volume of essays documenting major themes that participants in the conference got to address.
See the VAF website for more information about this conference, and next years in Falmouth, Jamaica.
