Dendrochronology (Tree Ring Dating) Demonstration

March 25, 2010

This Saturday, March 27th, 9:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m., at the Bethesda Home for Boys at 9520 Ferguson Avenue in Savannah

Join the Savannah Tree Foundation  will be doing a core sampling of the historic Whitefield Oak to determine its age by counting tree rings.  Dendrochronology is an important research method used also on historic buildings, where core sampling historic wooden timbers helps to date a building’s construction.  (Other events will include tree care demonstrations, including a root invigoration demonstration on the Bell Oak.  Free tree tours around the campus are also included in this Arbor Day celebration!
