Rossell Leads Tour “Beyond Savannah”

Ever feel like you just can’t escape the historic district? Too much William Jay getting you down? Well, I led an intrepid group of art librarians from universities and museums throughout the Southeast to a variety of sites just outside downtown Savannah, but often far outside the scope of the typical tourist. The itinerary: Pine Gardens Liberty Ship neighborhood, Gordonston package suburb, Bonaventure Cemetery, Thunderbolt African-American heritage, Victory Drive auto history, Ardsley Park and Chatham Crescent City Beautifulness, Parkside, and the inimitable Carl Edward Helfrich, arch’t Kaminsky House of 1962. A different kind of Savannah fun was had by all–Thanks to Melissa McDonald and her ARLIS/SE annual conference attendees, and Richard Lane’s generosity and Cindy Vaughn Sinclair’s availability–it was a “Beyond Savannah” ball!
